Countdown to Euro 2024 Starts
Soccer fans are counting down the days until Scotland and Germany go head-to-head in the first Euro 2024 match on Friday, 14 June.
Over 150 000 Scotland supporters are believed to be on their way to Germany, where they will watch their side take on the hosts at Allianz Arena in Munich.
Germany are the popular contenders in the Group A match, as they will be looking to revive the heydays of the 1972, 1980 and 1996 European championships. However, pundits have warned that Scotland shouldn’t be dismissed too quickly.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke was reportedly in a good mood ahead of the upcoming game. The coach has a strict “no negative Normans” policy, which appears to be firmly in place.
Billy Gilmour, midfielder for the Tartan Army, shared his thoughts during a press conference in Garmisch-Partenkirchen today, Wednesday 12 June: “To be part of the build-up, it’s been brilliant. Now we’re here and we want to make it one to remember, to try to get out of the group [stages] and see how far we can go,” he said cheerfully.
According to reports, Germany midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović, has been ruled out from the match due to tonsillitis. However, he has been replaced by Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can.
